Trained from the age of four under the tutelage of Venkatesh Godhkindi, Jayatheerth Mevundi and acclaimed flautist Ronu Majumdar, Satish, a Hindustani Classical music flautist will play raga Puriya Dhanashree, which is usually sung at dusk. He explains, “I will play aalap, teen taal and fast teen taal in my performance.
Alaap, played in the beginning of the raga, always begins with a slow tempo. This will be followed by teen taal, one of the most common taals in North Indian music. Teen taal has 16 beats which are divided into four beats equally. The last one will be the fast teen taal which will have a higher tempo.”
The award-winning artiste adds that Hindustani classical music demands total control of the flute and one’s breath. Pande will mark the end of the evening with her rendition of the raag Malhar, the singer will sing her mentor’s compositions. “I will sing the raag Bhoop followed by raag Gaud Malhar which combines a minor and major raga.
