Passing through the lanes of Mumbai, it's easy to overlook the monuments you spot day in and day out.
So when the same monuments are captured on canvas or in photographs, their intricate details may suddenly strike you and make you look at the city in a brand new light.
CST station as etched by Chandrakant Marathe
That's the impression we got when we caught a glimpse of Chandrashekhar Marathe's watercolour images. Titled Mumbai Lifescape 2, the exhibition features paintings of locales spread across Mumbai, festivities and celebrates the life and moods of Mumbaites.

The use of watercolours has lent a certain dreamy quality to the paintings which is apt considering Mumbai is, after all, the city of dreams.

Our favourite images are the ones depicting CST station, Banganga lake with two ducks contemplatively sitting on its banks, Flora Fountain by day and night, the heritage locale of Khotachiwadi and the markets of Bhuleshwar.

From gulli cricket to the hustle and bustle of local markets, Marathe's paintings capture the city beautifully. Dream away, we say!
