Hosted by BandCamp and curated by The Poetry Club, Mumbai, Verse Voyage is every poet's dream. “With the two-day workshop, our aim is to give established and aspiring poets a push to tap into their creative minds. There'll be an exchange of ideas, opinions and knowledge to finally convert that idea you have always had into the poem it should be,” says Trupthi Shetty, co-founder.
In 2013, Shetty, along with Ankita Shah, started The Poetry Club as a platform for poets to share poems, engage in feedback and discussion with four events a month ranging from open mics, to cross art events and workshops. “Poets share their original work in any language, form, style, and discuss the finer aspects of poetry, poetry writing and performances,” says Shah.
At Utan where the camp is scheduled, the package includes meals and accommodation in a tent. Expect live music, hammocks, games, bonfire, good food and a sunset walk on the beach. “Our participants have enjoyed this weekend break to be able to focus on their poetry and spend time learning with our instructors and other participants. They have also loved the poetry they have written over the two days with the creative push and challenges from our instructors,” says Shetty. Writers often wait for the right time or environment to write. The organisers believe writing does not blossom in isolation, but that it is seeded, little by little, with every passing moment.
