We know of how several women get apprehensive at the thought of draping a sari, thanks to ideas of its cumbersome avatar, especially amid the hustle-bustle of daily life.

Now, organic saris with Iranian inspiration

But the sari, which has been worn for years by Indian women is designed such that it can help negate and keep you cool in India’s cruel summers. Taking this a step further is Ethicus — sarees made out of organic cotton that support the livelihood of over 165 cotton growers in the Kabini region of Karnataka.

For those who are uncomfortable with the drape, Ethicus also offers scarves and stoles. Their latest collection, designed by Amishi Vadgama titled Isfahan is a tribute to the city by the same name in Iran.

The weaves derive subtle inspiration from the tile work seen in the mosques of this spectacular city, the intricate ‘jalis’ spotted in these mosques and floral patterns seen on Persian carpets. The colour palate is a mix of bright blues, greens and yellows, and rich reds and oranges signifying the sandstone forts of Isfahan.
