Making life easier for Mumbai's time-strapped office-goers and those who aren't exactly the cooking type, tiffin service provider SpiceBox! has now gone online, for a more convenient booking and gastronomical experience
When 27-year-old Gurmeet Kochhar, wanted to break away from his investment banking routine, it didn’t take him too long to zero in on his next course of action. Given Mumbai’s huge working professional population that is always running against time, Kochhar realised that the perfect market to take a plunge in would be the delivered food segment. Thus, SpiceBox! opened in 2011. Now, with a larger client base, more orders and as an expansion plan, the tiffin service that specialises in Punjabi food, has gone online.

The service offers vegetarian and non-vegetarian tiffins, which the owner stresses are prepared in different kitchens under the guidance of Kochhar’s mother, who has been involved in the venture since the beginning and helps out with recipes, managing the chefs and planning the menu each month.
For a first-hand experience, we ordered for two tiffins to check their claims of quality of food and taste. However, due to a miscommunication, we were only delivered a non-veg box. But, foodwooed us completely.
Variety
Both variants (veg and non-veg) come in two formats -- full and mini. The full meal offers rice and rotis with other items while the mini skips rice. We ordered for the full box that comprised Rajma, Chicken Curry, Macaroni Salad, rice and three rotis, and liked the variety that it offered.
Freshness
The food tasted fresh and warm when it arrived in leak-proof, microwavable containers that can be re-heated. The food looked delectable and emanated an appetising aroma.
Taste
Since we are rice lovers, we first dug into the Rajma and Rice,u00a0a famous North Indian combination. The Rajma was flavoursome and authentic. The Chicken Curry was a tad spicy but tastedyum though we could’ve done with less oil.
The salad balanced out the meal nicely.
Quantity
The portions were impressive. It can suffice for two people who have relatively less than average appetites.
