For the fourth edition, festival director Sridhar Rangayan shares, “Our festival is held in the western suburbs and we wanted people living in the central suburbs to know about the festival too.
Hence, as a preview we will be screening the best films from last year in Vikhroli in the form of a pop-up festival. We will also divulge what is in store for this year’s edition at the festival, with the audience,” says Rangayan.
Every year, Kashish has a country in focus at the festival and this year the chosen country is China. “LGBT rights in China is not something that is discussed much, and making a movie on the topic too, is very difficult, explaining our choice.
We will also have young Chinese filmmaker Fan Popo for the screening of his movie,” says Rangayan. This year’s jury for the competition section will also have Berwin Ronald, from UK’s Iris Pride festival, as a part of Kashish. Online registrations for the festival will be free of cost till May 17, post which there will be a nominal entry fee for registrations at the venue.
