Is what Mumbai-based DJ Lloyd says, disturbed by the city's Cinderella deadline, prior to his performance in Bangalore

He has successfully taken Indian sounds to dance floors across the world. DJ Lloyd, who started out in the early 90s, strongly believes that DJing is not about playing remixed tracks but also takes the works of a musician. "DJs are musicians by themselves and DJing is a rather responsible job. Not something one can pursue as a hobby," he says.

Besides having represented the country in DMC World DJ Mixing Championships in 1998 and 1999, Lloyd has, to his accolades, international collaborations with artists Nicole Scherzinger of Pussycat Dolls fame and Britney Spears. "I worked with Britney for the track I Wanna Go featuring Sonu Nigam and with Nicole for the song Right Here. It was challenging to compete with their levels of creativity and be appreciated. It is a different high, a blessing from God," says Lloyd. His aspirations don't end here and he is looking at many more international acts in the future. "I would love to work with Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, JLo, Lady Gaga and several others. The list is endless," states the DJ who worked on the remixed version of the chartbuster Gal Mitthi Mitthi from the film Aisha.u00a0

He's excited about his performance in town but the nightlife restrictions in the city act as a dampener. "I will be playing a lot of party anthems and dance tracks. Expect a lot of Bollywood mixes and EDM (Electronic Dance Music) all with my added flavour. I am not expecting too much excitement from the audience. Although Bangalore is a nice city, it comes with its share of restrictions. There is not much time for the crowd to blend with the music. I might decide to start really early as I have a lot of music to play. It takes nearly three hours to satisfy people," he adds expressing that he expects people to get this party started earlier than usual.
Having started out in the early 90s, Lloyd tells us that it was a combination of his passion for music and partying that made him take up DJing. "I love music and partying. They go hand in hand. To be in control of both was an ideal situation for me," he says. For those who are new to the field and wish to take up DJing as a career, Lloyd has just one thing to say, "DJing is not about playing recorded music. It is about being the rock stars who are composers themselves and understand electronica."
