The GUIDE dropped in at a Cooking for Mom workshop and saw some budding chefs in the making

When we dropped in for the Cooking for Mom workshops at Atllantiss, we spotted children in the age group of 4 to 14 having a gala time.

“Learning with fun is what we are aiming for and we want them to learn the science behind cooking as well,” said Anita Gosal, director of Ternate Hospitality.

Gosal added that they are celebrating mother’s month this week and thought of conducting this workshop for kids and their moms. “The experience of the recent workshop was very positive and we saw a lot of children cooking for their mothers. Once the children were given responsibility they didn’t spill anything or break even a single glass,” said Gosal.

Children below eight years can attend the workshop but cannot cook. The basic idea behind the workshop is to make kids learn real recipes and life skills while preparing food. From project planning, organising and making good food choices to carrying out a plan to completion, the organisers believe that cooking is a great way to learn these important life skills at an early age.

Aprons and caps were given to the young chefs who were seen all excited to cook. Almost 22 children participated in the event. They made Iced Tea, Bruschetta and were then given Vanilla Ice Cream and asked to use toppings they liked on it and serve it to their mothers.

Chef Sohail Mondal arranged the demonstration. The head chef at Atllantiss demonstrated easy recipes for kids and turned them into young chefs for the evening. The children enjoyed making the recipes for their mothers and after making every recipe they ran to their mom and asked them to taste it.
Gosal said that they will eventually hold workshops for mothers and young college students on what to eat and how and when to eat it.
