Salim Ghouse and Anita Salim have always shared a special bond with literature. Their theatre group Phoenix Players is known for its many productions based on literary treats. In 2009, the group celebrated their 25th anniversary with two short pieces by Harold Pinter and Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi and now they return with a new play called Still Life, which celebrates the works of Edgar Allan Poe, Mahasweta Devi and William Shakespeare.
Returning with a new play after nearly two years, the theatre couple has decided to combine their love for theatre and literature yet again. The three short pieces that will be performed as part of Still Life are Mahasweta Devi's Kunti and Nishadin, Poe's The Tell Tale Heart and a story titled Shakespearewallah, based on Shakespeare's works. In typical Salim Ghouse-style, expect solid acting and captivating words at this show.u00a0
