La Tomatina comes to the country for the first time and it is the Delhiites who will be participating in the fun this Saturday

The Capital is hosting the famous tomato festival, La Tomatina, that is coming all the way from Spain where it all started. Call it a tomato fight, the funeral of the tomato or 'tomato Holi', the fun part remains intact. So give the Katrinas, Farhans and Hrithiks in you a wake-up call.

So what is it all about? La Tomatina is basically a tomato fight in which people squeeze tomatoes and throw them at each other playfully. And with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, it has an immediate connect as well. Sankalp Kathuria, theu00a0 organiser of the event, says: "If we can celebrate Christmas so joyously, then why not La Tomatina? We just need to think contemporary because if Spain can, why can't we? We are trying to bring Spain to Delhi.

We have arranged the tomato fight along with a rain dance to make it hip." So there will be special pools with seating inside them so that people can park themselves in the pool and sip their drinks.
Asked why the Capital was chosen for the fun fest,u00a0 Kathuria says: "After watching Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the whole idea of this fest fascinated me. And being a Delhiite myself, how could I not let my city relish this chance?"

Many of us would rather not waste an expensive thing like tomato for such pleasures. But why let price be a bummer? "Water shortage does not deter us from playing Holi. Why can't we play with tomatoes?" asks Kathuria.

With Delhi being tagged as the rape Capital of India, the idea of a tomato fest may sound risky to women who might want to participate. To ensure safety, a set of rules has been put in place. For example, tomatoes need to be squashed before throwing. Ripping off clothes is prohibited. To ensure these are being followed, 50 bouncers have been hired. Beachwear would be the dress code. Chinese and Italian cuisine will be on the menu and the participants will have access to unlimited snacks and drinks as they sway to the tunes of DJ duo Manu and Raney.u00a0So juice up your weekend and shed your workload as you dive in the splash. Yeh chance na milega dobara.
