Just A few weeks ago, we were welcoming Lego Worlds into our lives and now, there is already a new Lego game out. Technically, Lego City Undercover is not a new game. But, many, especially in India missed it, since it came out only on the Wii U, which has never been officially launched in India. Yes, Nintendo hates us. Developers TT Fusion compensated by remaking the game for other platforms.

Lego City Undercover is very similar to Grand Theft Auto with its open world, vehicles and crime. But, instead of the gangsters you play the cop and gratuitous family-friendly humour replaces the violence. You can think of the game as GTA for kids.

In the game, you play Chase McCain, a disgraced cop, who has returned to Lego City to capture master criminal Rex Fury. To do so, McCain has to disguise himself in various costumes - there are eight disguises that you can use in the story mode. As a civilian, though, there are close to 290 disguises that can be unlocked.

The game world is huge, it is laid out across 17 regions. Like GTA, Lego City Undercover lets you commandeer vehicles and there are tonnes of those too, including boats, cars, trucks, bikes, copters and even UFOs.

While the main game is passable, the side quests are very boring. Considering this is a GTA clone, the least it could do is give us deeper storylines to encourage us to complete side missions.

As mentioned, the humour and the story are geared at a child and hence, lacks the cheekiness the other Lego games possess.

The graphics are also standard Lego fare. Since this is essentially a remake, not too many things have been tampered with, and this is a good thing. This game was good the first time, just the audience was a lot smaller. With this title hitting all the new consoles and PC, it should be fairly popular among children. Not to mention you can play along with them in the Coop mode.

So, why should you get this game? The answer is simple: you don’t want your kids playing GTA V and this game can calm that itch. Kids who enjoy Lego will love the game, McCain’s crazy adventure and the slapstick humour.
