Artist Awadhesh Misra, brings alive his childhood memories on canvas at the exhibition titled Vizooka

Titled Vizooka, the exhibition of paintings at Art2Day Gallery showcases paintings by artist Awadhesh Misra as he explores the symbols of his childhood. The paintings on display represent his personal journey through his childhood days. Awadhesh Misra brings alive the space where he was born and the space where he grew up through his paintings. Vivid descriptions of his childhood in the fields, his companions and the scarecrow are seen through his paintings. Vizooka or the scarecrow is the central theme of his paintings.

"The Vizooka is a timeless symbol which has been in existence for centuries. As a matter of fact, it is the symbol of continuation and its existence even manifests into the fourth dimension of time," says Misra. According to him, the Vizooka was his childhood companion in his village, which stood right in the middle of the field as a protector, an abstract existence not only for the fields or the farmers but also for the birds and the passers-by.

Awadhesh does not like to name his paintings but prefers to call them compositions - a general tag he gives to all his works. He hopes to give the viewer a pure visual experience of colour, space and form, which they can interpret as they wish.

Behind Vizooka's arrival were his earlier intricate abstracts of several years with circles, squares or triangles creating movement into spaces, at times constructing a structure of dreams. Misra creates a new personal world through his paintings, which is visible for all to enjoy.

From: June 11 to 18
At: Art2Day Gallery, Camp.
