Know more about the signature dishes at city eateries, book a table, order takeaway and even enjoy customised offer coupons — upgrade your dining experience with DishCo, the newest food app in town
If you're hooked on to digging into San Churro's best dessert, keen to dine at Hakkasan or are eager to order in, the DishCo (Dish Company) is the newest app on the block to fulfill your gastronomic cravings. “There are quite a few food apps available but we are trying to fulfill the gap by being a one-stop shop where restaurants will come on board to offer a slew of services,” says Jimmy Shaw, the co-founder of the app and the Managing Director of Food Marshal Tech Services, the company that has developed DishCo.

Currently available in Mumbai, Pune and Goa, the hyper-local app will be extended to Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Delhi by November. In Mumbai, the company has signed on close to 3,500 restaurants in various segments on a subscription basis. These restaurants provide information about their three signature dishes. You can log into the app, discover these dishes and rank them based on your favourites. You can even search for your favourite dish to know where it's available in the city. “We want to make the dish the hero,” informs Shaw. Depending on the number of followers that a user has, the app also declares him/her as a Food Marshal, basically an influencer, who will be able to nominate additional signature dishes for a restaurant.

Some other features include booking a table, direct resto-chat — a tool that allows you to get in touch with the restaurant's manager on one-on-one basis — offers and coupons, home delivery, wallet service, etc. “The offers will be customised depending on a user's demographics and taste. We have tied up with the wallet company MobiKwik to launch DishCo wallet for home deliveries too,” elaborates Shaw. As its CSR initiative, the company has launched a campaign, Pledge a Meal, Spread a Smile whereby the restaurants and the users will be able to donate meals to city's underprivileged children through the app.
