Stories are some of the most effective modes of communication. And harnessing the power of this medium is the Story Telling Festival conducted by Sherin Mathews, a professional storyteller who trained at Kathalaya, Bengaluru.

Mathews organised the festival to revive the art of storytelling, expose children to different techniques of narration (which include drama and music) and to help them narrate stories. The sessions are for kids aged 4 to 16.

The festival will present dramatic narrations of evergreen stories such as the Pied Piper of Hamelin and A Polar Bear as well as original stories by Mathews (which will be staged on the final day of the event).

“I believe that a story told 10 times will make the child believe in it and works as autosuggestion. Storytelling involves all the senses; it touches, heals and transforms kids whether in an auditory, visual or kinesthetic way,” she states.
