The perfect party guide for New Year

Food >> Nico
Nico is just another excuse for us to run to SoBo, and the classy, vintage vibe, open kitchen and bare walls add to the merry. This bistro opened its doors in the art precinct of Kala Ghoda a few months back and specialises in wood-fired Napolitano gourmet flat breads, and Eastern and Western Mediterranean-inspired Mezzes. And for carnivores, it is one of the few places in the city where you can sample delish beef preparations and a duck leg too.

Nico has quickly risen to be a favourite among the city’s gourmands; (Below) Beef Fillet with Pomme Puree. Pics/ Bipin Kokate

The first time we visited, the Beef Fillet with Pomme Puree made us make a promise to ourselves about visiting the space again. They pride themselves in serving up from a menu that is seasonal, local and certified organic wherever possible. For those who love their tipple in style, the vintage junkie in us would recommend the bar at Nico, which is set in 1920s style and no, the city can never have enough of Art Deco.

The bar menu is inspired by the theme of the space too -- think Blackened Manhattans (all hail bourbon) and other such concoctions served in Mad Men-esque tumblers. All we need is Don Draper to drop by and we will never think of leaving this city. And to make your New Year merrier, try their five-course menu that will multiply the fun five-fold.

All-in-one > Le Cafe, Ghatkopar
Framed art pieces peep down from the walls. Collections of European delicacies stare you in the face from their extensive menu. A musician strums at his guitar strings, to add to the experience that you can consume at Le Cafe.

The all-day eatery is the baby of the owners of Opa and Trifecta and boasts of a warm bistro-like ambiance, relaxed décor and a robust repertoire of European specialties such as wood-fired pizzas, delicious pasta, breads and cakes that are baked in-house.

With free Wi-Fi and also a newly-introduced ‘express lunch’ format -- Le Cafe also serves as a destination where new talent can find a lovely home - with pop art, paintings, photographs, instagrams, even -- up for sale.

For the festive week starting December 25, the eatery has introduced a special menu for its patrons.
