If a child has good reading habits, his/her days will never be lonely or boring. And, to inculcate the good habit, Junior Writer’s Bug literary festival offers a platform that encourages and exposes young minds to the wonderful world of books and reading, in a fun-filled exciting environment.u00a0The festival brings together Indian literature and its dynamic creators under one roof, exposing children to this expanding world, which is brimming with new characters and stories.u00a0Workshops include storytelling, poetry, creative story writing, rhyme, illustrations, filmmaking, script writing, wild life writing, and puppetry.

This is the first year of the festival, which has been started by Priya Rajive and Richa Sethi, founders of The Writer’s Bug (TWB) forum that meets every fortnight to discuss books and write.u00a0Children’s author Deepak Dalal, who will be speaking at the festival says, “We have Eragon and Harry Potter, but few adventure books are set in India. I will take the kids through the process of writing a book, and show them what inspires authors, how they research topics. This increasesthe curiosity level in the child and urges him to read more.” Dalal has penned The Vikram Aditya Adventure series that has stories set in Ladakh, Ranthambore, Sahyadris and even Lakshadweep.

11.15 am: Storytelling workshop for ages 4-7 by Swati Popat
12.30 pm: Icky, Yucky, Mucky by Natasha Sharma. A dramatised reading, which will end with children making their own Splotch Monster.
12 pm: Wake up your imagination by Santhini Govindhan. In the workshop kids will learn to come up with story ideas, find interesting characters and plots.
2 pm: A Feathery Affair by Katie Bagli where children will learn about birds through stories.
