WhatsApp recently rolled out the video calling feature for users. According to a report by Emirates 247, it seems many scamsters are taking advantage of WhatsApp's 'feature by invite' system and duping people by sending invites for video calling with malware links.
Previously, before video calling was introduced, the same scamster will send a message along with the invite, asking users to share the same message to 10 more people and groups to enable a voice calling feature. But, it's nothing but a big hoax.
Now, a similar hoax message has cropped up, where WhatsApp users are getting an invitation to activate video calling, which reads that one can download the updated video calling app after clicking the link provided with the message.
WhatsApp users are kindly advised to refrain from believing such hoax messages and avoid forwarding them to other users and groups.
This is because, each time these links, which are usually malware or advertisements, the scamsters make money.
