The latest update helps you doodle on and edit pictures before it is sent. With the conversation open, the user from one end can tap the camera icon and select an image from the camera. How to send animated GIFs
To send GIF, the user has to press the + icon, then Photo and Video Library. Any video which is up to 6 seconds long can be selected. Users can also select 3D touch on a live photo from their Camera Roll, the n swipe up and then select Send option as GIF. Users can even simply copy paste a GIF from Giphy.

How to tag people in WhatsApp messages
Users can now tag other members of a WhatsApp group message, even if the members have muted the conversation. To do this, users only need to type @ and select the person they want to tag from the list that appears.

This seems to be a latest and interesting feature on WhatsApp. However, as of now this is only available for iOS (Sorry Android!) users.
