Puneites can look forward to the day-long seminar on career opportunities in the music industry for students and parents. The event, titled Music Works, is curated by the True School of Music (TSM), a comprehensive institute of contemporary music locatedu00a0in Mumbai. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/nov/Music-Work.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 560px;" /> The event will feature live interactive performances and question and answer (Q&amp;A) sessions with Mohan and Koko (Agnee), Ranjit Barot, Dhruv Ghanekar, Monica Dogra (Shaiir &lsquo;n&rsquo; Func), DJ Uri, DJ Marc Hype (Berlin), Maschine Producer Jim Dunloop (Berlin), Ramon Ibrahim and Ashu Phatak among other industry experts. The one-day seminar will focus on career opportunities in the relatively untapped music industry for aspiring musicians and will be divided into several sessions. The event will start off with DJ Uri (UK / India) and DJ Marc Hype (Berlin) talking to participants about vinyl. It will be followed by a session where Vasuda Sharma and Jovian Soans will demonstrate how innovative sound design can alter the outcome of a recording. The next session will have three music composers &mdash; Dhruv Ghanekar, Ramon Ibrahim and Jelle Visser (teacher at TSM) &mdash; producing sounds based on a brief. Nitin Chandy, co-founder of TSM, says, &ldquo;Music Works aims at unveiling the possibilities of careers in the music industry. In the process, we hope to bust myths surrounding the music industry that have influenced the perception of parents and students, consequently inhibiting them from following their true calling.&rdquo; Acclaimed singer Monica Dogra adds that today&rsquo;s day and age is right to explore such careers: &ldquo;It&rsquo;s a good time in India right now for artistes and artistic people to explore new and innovative careers, that possibly never existed the way they do now.&rdquo; The final session willu00a0feature members of the TSM Pro Faculty playing a song in different genres to bring alive the role of session musicians in the industry followed by an all-star jam to close the evenings proceedings.
