'Night owls' may be at greater risk of type-2 diabetes, heart disease: Study

The researchers found that those who stay up late have a reduced ability to use fat for energy, meaning fats may build up in the body and increase the risk for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease

There two different kinds of people, some who are awake during the day, and others who are awake at night and are called 'night owls'. A new study has now found that those people who are awake at night may be at a higher risk of suffering from type-2 diabetes and heart disease. It has found that our wake/sleep cycles cause metabolic differences and alter our body's preference for energy sources.

The researchers found that those who stay up late have a reduced ability to use fat for energy, meaning fats may build up in the body and increase the risk for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
