PrintWeek India, in collaboration with Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Mumbai, will host Print Fair, a five-day event to showcase exemplary print works created in India. The aim of the event is to re-emphasise the importance of print as a medium, at a time when digital media is gaining top priority, <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/nov/Print-Fair-3.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 502px;" /> &ldquo;The event will see panel discussions, workshops and films about print and will promote the medium which was accelerated by legends like Chintamoni Ghosh, Raja Ravi Verma and Mahatma Gandhi. Plus, more than 1,200 print samples from 113 print firms in India will be on display,&rdquo; says Noel D&rsquo;Cunha, Deputy Editor, PrintWeek India. This is the first year of the fair, but organisers hope to convert it into an annual affair. &ldquo;We want to remind people that print is not dead. In fact, it is thriving and anything printed on paper and paperboard is growing at a healthy double digit figure,&rdquo; affirms D&rsquo;Cunha, adding that opposed to popular belief, print is a $24.1 billion industry and twice the size of the pharma industry. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/nov/prints.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 332px;" /> Print fair is a five-day festival that will promote print mediumu00a0 &ldquo;From books to packaging to automobile car parts to 3D printing, everything is print,&rdquo; he says. While all the sessions have been conceptualised such that they bring out interesting facts and are exciting, D&rsquo;Cunha picks that the session on print museums around the world including Houston, Mainz and London will be a rare gem. &ldquo;This will be followed by a talk on type foundries in Mumbai.
