As legend goes, the great Prajapati, Brahma, chose Prayag, or Allahabad as it's known now, as the holiest place on Earth. Later, for the Mughals, it held a strategic position for conquest and during the Raj, it was a prominent administrative hub. It's this unusual mix of mythology, religion and business that makes Allahabad intriguing.
