Dehradun: The Tirath Singh Rawat government of Uttarakhand has completed its first 100 days in the office. These were very challenging days for the Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, but he faced each and every challenge sincerely and overcome those. In these hundred days, the biggest challenge for the government was to rid the state of Covid infection and the government has succeeded to a great extent as Corona Recovery Rate in the state is now above 95%. Now, the government’s emphasis is on preparedness to effectively deal with the possible third wave of the pandemic.

All these days the Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat regularly kept a tab on arrangements to reduce the impact of Covid epidemic and to provide prompt treatment and necessary assistance to the victims. He visited almost all the districts of the state and took stock of the facilities and arrangements in the Covid Care Centres, hospitals and medical colleges there.

In these 100 days, the government has rapidly increased health facilities in the state. To overcome shortage of beds for the Covid patients, the government sought help from the DRDO which established 500-bed Covid Care Centres in Haldwani and Rishikesh. Arrangements in other hospitals of the state were also improved.

Moreover, to ensure continuous supply of oxygen in the hospitals of Uttarakhand, the state government arranged oxygen from the oxygen express run by the central government and established oxygen plants at many places in the state. As of now, more than 50 Metric Tonnes of oxygen is kept in reserve for Garhwal division while 40 MT of oxygen is kept in reserve for Kumaon division. Small oxygen plants have also been installed in 22 hospitals. Oxygen generation plants are being set up in every district hospital while a plan for setting up oxygen plants at 15 new places has been prepared.

All 13 districts in the state have been allotted filling points for oxygen supply at different places, through which 167 MT of oxygen is being produced and supplied daily in the state. The central government has allocated 60 MT from other states, too.

In fact, during the last one month alone, facilities have increased ten times everywhere. The state had only 673 oxygen support beds in March 2020, but those have now increased to 6,000, ICU beds were only 216 and now this number is 1495. Likewise, number of ventilators has reached 983 from 116. Today there are more than 10,000 oxygen cylinders against just 1,193 in March 2020, while number of concentrators has reached 3,400 from 275.

During the 100 days’ tenure of Tirath Singh Rawat government, 26,900 calls were done under e-Sanjeevani. Efforts are being made to serve more people through this service. Apart from these calls, more than 1.10 lakh calls were attended on Helpline-104.  The state’s Covid website also has more than nine lakh visitors.

Taking preventive measures against the pandemic, the state government is arranging free vaccination of around 50 lakh youth in the age-group 18-45. Vaccination drive is going on rapidly in the state. Also, the in order of controlling the pandemic, state government is implementing a new decentralized Covid Care System in urban, rural and remote areas. This process is being adopted in phases, under which a Covid Care Center is being set up in every block. Also, there will be a control room in every block, for which man power is being arranged. Mobile testing labs are also being arranged for rural areas. Theses labs will go from village to village and take samples for tests.

These sincere efforts of Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat to decimate the pandemic have resulted in effectively reducing the corona infection in the state. Now, the government’s emphasis is on preparedness to effectively deal with the possible third wave of the pandemic.

Govt. approves Rs 90 Lakh for kin of journalists succumbing to Covid-19

Dehradun: During its hundred days’ tenure, the Tirath government has taken many important decisions. One of these commendable decisions was that of sanctioning an amount of Rs. 90 lakh for the families of 18 journalists who died of Covid-19 infections in the state. No government in the past had taken such a decision in the interest of the journalists.

It may be recalled that journalists were active participants in the struggle for formation of Uttarakhand state. On many other occasions too, the journalists here have played an important role with the mission of public welfare as they have always remained true to their responsibilities and loyalty to the society. Some of these social warriors lost the battle of life untimely due to Corona. Though previous governments sympathized with the bereaved families but for whatever reasons none offered such generous financial assistance in the moments of crisis.

It is worth mention that the Tirath Singh Rawat government has taken a number of important decisions in the interest of journalists. His government has given the journalists proper importance as frontline workers during the Covid period and allowed their movement during Covid curfew so that they could discharge their responsibilities properly. More importantly, the government got journalists vaccinated as other frontline workers. Journalists in the state have hailed this gesture of Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat.

Tirath Singh Rawat government gives relief to common people

*4,500 cases under Pandemic Act withdrawn

*District Development Authorities dissolved

Dehradun: 100 days ago, people of Uttarakhand had high hopes from Tirath Singh Rawat when he took charge of the state as the Chief Minister. And, the mass leader Tirath Singh Rawat has not disappointed them. Establishing that the people were of paramount importance to him, the Chief Minister has given relief to the people of the state right from his initial decisions. Decisions to withdraw all 4,500 cases under the Pandemic Act and dissolving the District Development Authorities were amongst these as both issues had been bothering people for a long time.

In the last one and a half years, Uttarakhand, like other parts of the country, has been afflicted with the Covid-19 epidemic. As a measure to dissuade people from moving unnecessarily, the previous government had promulgated the Epidemic Act in the entire state. This resulted into police lodging 4,500 cases against people accused of violating the restrictions during the lockdown. These cases had been bothering people and there was popular demand to withdraw cases.  As soon as the Tirath government took over the charge, it acted in favour of the people. These cases were quashed in no time after the Chief Minister’s order to this effect.

Another problem being faced by the common people was due to the newly created District Development Authorities. Arbitrariness of the officials in these Authorities had become a big issue as action was being taken against the people for even small constructions. In such a situation, Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat decided to immediately dissolve these Authorities. People have widely hailed both these initial decisions of Tirath Singh Rawat government as they brought direct relief to the public.
