Dear Diana, I'm 20 and doing my graduation. My parents keep telling me what to do and what not to do.
They don’t seem to care whether I have some dreams of my own or not. On the other hand, they are hell-bent on creating an academic out of me because both of them are into the same field. In fact, both are well-established names. I just don’t want to be like them. I want to travel and explore the world and become a photographer. They feel that photography is best a hobby but not a career option.

Dear Shama,
You are not the only one. There are many people out there who feel their parents do not understand their aspirations. Photography is a lucrative profession especially in the fashion field. Try telling them that you need to know what you want to do in life and that they should support your dream. Also, give them time. You can’t expect them to change overnight. Arguing will not do any good in your situation. Try earning some money as a freelancer and then show it to them. Make a portfolio of all your snapshots and make sure it’s really good. When they see how hard you work and love photography they will start to think of the positive side.u00a0
