Dear Diana, I'm 26 and my parents have selected a girl for me. I've got nothing against her. She's average looking ufffd just like me so I can't complain on that front
But my grudge is not against her. I just don’t want to get married. Not to her. Not to anyone else. I find the very idea behind this institution disturbing. I’ve tried to tell my parents what I really feel about marriage but they think I’m spaced out or something. If only they understood that I know what I’m talking about. I see married couples and wonder, weren’t these guys a lot happier before tying the knot?

Dear Samat,
There’s a saying that goes: Shaadi ka laddo jo khaye woh pachtai aur jo na khaye woh bi pachtai. There is a plus and minus to everything in life and marriage is no exception. Right now you are 26 and you feel getting married is not on your list. There is no hurry for you to get married as you can even after a decade. Unlike a woman whose biological clock starts ticking after 35 you don’t have to contend with such issues. Tell your parents that you are in no hurry to get married and they need not go bride hunting. Once you cross 30 you will find most of your friends tying the knot and then perhaps you will do a rethink. Remember never say never, what if Cupid’s arrow strikes? Your parents are doing what they can for your well being so explain to them your current state of mind.
