Dear Diana, I'm a college student and extremely worried about my friend. She is acting weird all of a sudden. She doesn't join us for lunch at the cafeteria anymore nor does she come to study in the library.
According to her room-mate, she doesn’t sleep much at night and spends most of her time talking on her cellphone. I don’t know what’s going on. She’s even losing weight and looks horrible at times. I’m thinking of informing the dean so that he can get in touch with her parents. Will that be a wise thing to do?

Dear Sushila,
It’s obvious that something is wrong with her. There is something playing on her mind that is worrying her. As she is not sharing it with others, you feel her behaviour is odd. Instead of telling the dean, why don’t you first talk to her? If she is your buddy, she will certainly confide in you. May be she needs a shoulder to cry on. Or may be she has done something and is now scared of the repercussions. What she needs is a patient hearing. Try doing that. Tell her you are genuinely concerned about her and care for her well-being.
