I'm a professor and a mother of two. My husband also teaches in the same college. My husband thinks I am having an affair. He thinks I'm more than just friends with a fellow professor whom my husband dislikes a lot. I've tried telling him the truth but he doesn't seem to understand. The man in question is happily married with a kid. Fortunately, our children aren't aware of the turmoil we're going through. How do I knock sense in my hubby's head.

Dear Saumiya,
Your husband is the most insecure guy going around. Just because you are friendly and comfortable with a colleague does not mean you are having an affair with him. What is irking him is that he dislikes him, while you get along with him. May be you need to explain to him that there are several professors and he is just one of them. He's jealous and accusing you of infidelity because your hubby is spineless. There are several women who work and are friendly with male colleagues and that does not tantamout to having an affair. I am sure your husband is also friendly with female colleagues, do you accuse him of having an affair? Your husband's thoughts are simply ridiculous and need to be ignored.
