My low marks won't fetch me a science seat

Updated on: 05 July,2012 06:36 AM IST  |
Dear Diana |

Dear Diana, I am a 16-year-old student who did poorly in the SSC exams. As a result, I can't get into the science stream and I don't want to pursue arts

My low marks won't fetch me a science seat

I’m quite strong in math and so I believe I can make a good engineer in future. If I go for commerce, I’ll be wasting my time because I don’t like finance much. Even my parents want me to do something in the field of science and technology but given my lack of interest in studies last year, I’m stuck with a marksheet that won’t let me get anywhere. I’m thinking of sitting for the SSC exams once again. This means one year will go waste. But I don’t know whether that’s permitted.

Dear Rafat,
First of all you have to check whether the Mumbai SSC board allows a successful candidate to reappear for the exams to better the score. As far as I know such things don’t happen. Remember you get what you deserve and deserve what you get. You say you did not show interest in studying that’s why you got low scores. When you were bent on pursuing science, you should have worked really hard for it. You whiled away time when you should have been busy studying so now why are you crying over spilt milk? You alone are to be blamed for your state. When you were hellbent on being an engineer, you should have realised that you should have worked real hard for the board exams and obtained a high score. You can also perhaps explore the possibility of doing a vocational course in science.u00a0
