Two top spas in the capitalu00a0F Chisel and Espace in Radisson MBD, Noidau00a0say 60 per cent of this season's clientele comprises men, and special couple packages have only been upping the numbers. The most popular treatmentsu00a0hair spa, facials, manicure and pedicure, followed by hair transplants. "Most men do not understand anything about chemical cosmetics, so chocolate massages, followed by other herbal services, are particularly hit," informs Ajay Malik, manager of the Espace wellness centre at Radisson MBD, Noida. He also has another interesting belief to shareu00a0"The spa culture, itself, began because of men. Most men's health clubs converted to unisexual wellness spaces after steam saunas and massages started becoming all the rage."
It's a metro of metrosexuals, after all. But around this time of the year, the trend is on a never before high. "The number of customers has most certainly gone upu00a0men want to pamper themselves before they can pamper anyone else," is the explanation that Vandana Sundara, the proprietor of Eminence Organic wellness products, has in store. Their cherry facials are most sought after by men at all Oxford salons in town.
City-based grooming guru Mehar Bhasin thinks this is a phenomenon sparked by bitter realisations. "They know they can't get away with unkempt hair, stinky feet and dirty nails anymore; they can't just expect the women to be well-kept," she says vehemently. "It's a competitive worldu00a0everyone has a good car and a good cellphone, but when a woman compliments a well-maintained man in front of others, it's a huge ego boost," she adds. And it isn't just brawny youngsters on the beauty trailu00a0men as old as 55 and 60 are visiting her academy to brush themselves up.
