Dear Diana,
I am 39 and have been married for 11 years. My wife has been unable to conceive and even infertility treatment and various other medical stuff did not work. For the past year, my wife has become distant. She has cut herself off from everything and keeps herself immersed only in domestic work. I know that it is bothering her as some family members love to discuss how she cannot conceive. Her silence and cutting herself off from everything is making me depressed. How do I help her? |

Dear Vir,
Your wife is suffering from depression and there is lots you can do to help her. First, not having a child does not spell the end of the world. There are multitudes of people out there who are childless. If you are keen to have a child, give a serious thought to adoption. Or you could also sponsor a child's education and well-being. Your family members can say what they want about you not having a kid. It is best to ignore them. Remember it is you alone who can get your wife out of her shell. She can pursue a hobby or a vocation. Right now she is immersing herself in domestic chores, it's time she stepped out and pursue something thing. If she keeps herself busy and meets more people, all those thoughts will be kept at bay. Also, remember being childless is not a curse, some people don't have parents... everyone cannot get everything. That's life!
