Assam hosts sign language workshop for tourism stakeholders

Assam has taken a step towards inclusive tourism by training hoteliers, guides, and tour operators in Indian Sign Language through a five-day ‘Sign & Serve’ workshop. The initiative aims to make travel more accessible for persons with disabilities while boosting rural tourism and expanding market reach.

In a step towards creating an inclusive tourism atmosphere in Assam, multiple stakeholders such as hoteliers, guides and tour operators have been trained in Indian sign language to better assist and welcome persons with disabilities. 

The stakeholders were trained during a five-day workshop which conclude here on Friday, a statement said.
