Take the ferry from south Mumbai
Who would've thought that you might need to escape the city to really find it? Hop on one of those bobbing, garishly lit ferries from the Gateway of India, and they'll take you into the middle of the sea from where you can see Mumbai in all its incandescent glory. Gape at the stately, monolithic arch of the Gateway, the impressive Taj Mahal and the panoramic view of the Apollo Pier and Colaba. We wouldn't be surprised if the undulating skyline, with thousands of illuminations, leaves you with an overwhelming feeling as you disembark.
