As Jennifer Lopez, one of the biggest international Pop stars, turns a year older, Dhara Vora invites choreographers to pick a song that they’d like to choreograph for her. Adding to the celebration, designers Nikhil Thampi and Neeta Lulla speak about their dream outfits for the diva

She has a strong sense of personal style and changes her look to suit her mood best. She looks amazing in whatever she wears as she carries herself with ease. For me, it’s not embroidery or glitz, but simplicity that spells glamour. Her sun-kissed complexion would look great in a metallic champagne colour. Especially with her trademark sparkly, smoky eyes and soft pink lips. My look for her would be feminine and elegant: a soft chiffon cut-out gown that would flatter her perfect waistline (in pic).

JLo is always at her ‘A’ game with fashion. So, it would be hard to see an image change. But I would like to see her in a modern version of a traditional sari, like the blouse-less saris from my Kathakali collection, or a short-dress-length sheath sari with some traditional tribal jewellery. Even a conservative floor-length anarkali with a heavily worked upon dupatta, completed with a bindi would look good. It would be a delight to see her wear gajra in her hair.

When you think about Jennifer Lopez, you think lines and Latino (forms of dancing). I would like to get more of groove in a choreography with her. So, On The Floor would be great; it has Pitbull rapping too.

If I were to choreograph Jennifer Lopez, I would choose her song Get Right. The song is so catchy, and it always makes me want to get up and dance. JLo surely got it right with this one.

I would love to choreograph a dance on, as well as dance with her on Jenny From The Block. I wouldn’t mind even sitting and watching her dance on this song! JLo is a worldwide phenomenon who has attracted every corner of the world. She has been a style icon, youth icon, singing icon and has inspired one and all for decades. So I hope to see her keep inspiring everybody always.

A pick from her songs would be Waiting For Tonight, it was quite a rage when it came with the whole millennium theme: I would like to recreate that. From Bollywood, I would like to revisit Chikni Chameli, as with JLo it would be a totally different form. Her style is unique, with her different body language, the song’s appeal would change entirely.
