Three questions with singer/composer Hariharan

Hariharan, unplugged

Hariharan

Q. What can we expect from your latest concert?
A. Traditional ghazals as well as modern styles like the Urdu Blues

Hariharan. Singer/Composer

Q. Indipop with music videos, like the popular Colonial Cousins’ tracks, have disappeared. Do you see them coming back?
A. Today, only film music is being promoted. The Indipop scene got restricted because there was no platform available except digital media and Coke Studio. The same goes for Ghazals, Sufi music and Bhajans. Colonial Cousins did an album a couple of years back but did not manage to get the marketing we had in the 1990s. I hope there will be a change in the coming years.

A. I performed for MTV Unplugged, the new season (season 5). I am currently working on a Sufi album. Our record label, Magic Records, will also release the Saraswati Chalisa soon.
