The band began in 2012 as The Kanchan Daniel Band after a chance meeting between singer/songwriter Kanchan Daniel and keyboardist Mukesh Lobo. However, it recently dropped the ‘Band’ and added ‘The Beards’ to its name, as a comical reference to the two bearaded men in the band — Mukesh Lobo and Anand Kamath.
Though the line-up remains the same featuring Kush Upadhyay, Varoon Aiyer and Anand Kamath, along with Daniel and Lobo, the band’s upcoming performance will see them performing their first single, titled The Road, in front of a
live audience.
The Blues Rock band is known for its powerful vocals and guitar and keyboard solos, but the single, says Daniel, is a little off their genre with a Classic Rock vibe to it. Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, she says, “The song has a vey special meaning to it.
When I was 17, I was diagnosed with cancer. This song is an ode to that time of the year when I was undergoing treatment. Music played a big role in my recovery. This song encourages me a lot.”
Also, performing in the same evening are Tejas Menon and Verun Athreya along with the act, Oh, Rocket! from Kolkata.
