Pic courtesy/Debatree Saha Maharaja Bhog, a premium vegetarian Thali restaurant&nbsp;opened its doors in Lower Parel, apparently the chain's first in South Mumbai.
We decided to take a trip to the place to find out what the buzz was all about.

Pic courtesy/Debatree Saha The restaurant is located opposite Kamala Mills Compound, the availability of valet parking is definitely a respite after braving the traffic across the narrow lanes of Lower Parel.

Pic courtesy/Debatree Saha We were greeted with a warm 'namaste' by courteous staff members who directed us to our table. The table was set with a grand brass-plated thali with several tiny bowls, and then began the feast fit for a king. Maharaja Bhog serves set meals consisting of a selection of various dishes, served on a platter (Thali). The outlet curates 30 different menus in a month to attract patrons coming back for more.

Dhokla. Pic courtesy/ Debatree Saha The spread is royal, yet light and undemanding. We were greeted with a 'kesar chandan sharbat', our welcome drink, which was unique and refreshing. Next up were traditional starters, with the dhokla and mirchi pakora being the standouts. The main course was a huge spread comprising four different sabzis (gravy based vegetables), three different daals (sweet and spicy in taste), and sweet curd on the plate.&nbsp;The Gatte-Ki-Sabzi, an authentic Rajasthan curry prepared with gram flour as base ingredient was an amazing dish that went well with rotis.
Pickles and chutneys were served to garnish the royal plates. Fresh assorted Indian breads complimented the dishes. The traditional 'rotla', also known as 'jowar-ki-roti' topped with dollops of jaggery and white butter was an outstanding bread to savour.&nbsp;
Interestingly, this restaurant specialising in Rajasthani food, served 'Sandesh' as a dessert that comes from the heart of Bengal.

The kitchen at Maharaja Bhog has a seperate Jain section which cater to only Jain cuisines that are part of their menu.&nbsp;
The decor is well done with &nbsp;shades of beige and yellow complementing each other to brighten up the environment. The hanging chandeliers and uniquely decorated walls add to the beauty of the place.

The new outlet of Maharaja Bhog which has opened recetly in Lower Parel, has already attracted many office goers.
