A Mumbai filmmaking start-up has engineers pick up cameras and travel miles across the country in search of people whose stories haven't been told

Two locals caught on camera in one of the journeys at Pashan, Kavadi-Pat, located in a small village about 20 km from Pune, a scrubland, a wetland and a paradise for birds
Have you ever spoken to the seller of your favourite pani puri, just to know when he moved to Mumbai and what he enjoys most while vacationing in his hometown? If you thought this was unnecessary and time-consuming, a group of young engineers-turned-filmmakers running the Camera and Shorts media startup, headquartered in Mumbai, (but drawing energy from freelancers spread across India) argue otherwise. They have been ideating on a pan-India exploration of pani puri (golgappa and puchka) vendors whose transition into big cities is a subject that has caught their collective imagination. The first segment of their golgappa journey will soon be on YouTube, the space where the company's 10-odd shorts (of varying durations) have received kudos and attention. Their latest travel feat - 10 train sojourns over 17 days touching the farthest points of the Indian railway network - just bore fruit in The Unreserved, a 60-minute film that focuses on an unprivileged class of Indians who put up with discomfort and seat uncertainty while choosing to travel in general compartments for long distances.
