Jordan Quill’s children’s book Karma and the Snow Lion (Niyogi Books) begins with Karma — a young pashmina goat — relishing his mother’s momos and subsequently falling asleep. In his dream, he meets a giant snow lion with mint green eyes, who educates him about his ancestors from Changthang, Tibet, and his language. Among other things, he narrates how the Pashmina fibres from the soft hair of pashmina goats travel from Tibet to Kashmir, where they are woven into the most delicate shawls.
