Valentine’s Day is falling on a Sunday this year, making it ideal for a quick getaway. Beaches, mountains, or jungles, Mumbai is a stone’s throw away from all. While popular hill stations and beaches are teeming with crowds, it’s still possible to take a secluded holiday. We’ve rounded up a list of five offbeat getaways for you to explore this Valentine’s weekend.
 
Waterfalls galore


If you and your partner love nature, Bhandardhara is the ideal escape. Surrounded by mountains, the sleepy resort town near Igatpuri is home to several waterfalls as well. Top attractions in the area include the Bhandardara Lake, Umbrella Falls, Randha Falls, Wilson Dam, Ratangad Fort, and Kalsubai Peak. While the region is dotted with trekking trails, camping near the Bhandardhara Lake makes for a tranquil experience. The Ratanwadi village is a short boat ride away.

Bird watcher’s fantasy


A mere four hour drive from the city, Morachi Chincholi is a hidden gem. The sleepy eco-village shelters over 2,500 peacocks and peafowls. Robins, parakeets, woodpeckers, and babblers are also known to be spotted here. It can be said without a doubt that bird-watchers and animal lovers will especially love being here. Many photographers also visit the town to capture the varied birds. With many homestays available, Morachi Chincholi is truly a culturally immersive experience. Visitors can choose to visit the nearby Nighoj village as well.

Valentine valley


Also known as the Valley of Shadows, Sandhan Valley is located in Igatpuri. The water carved valley is roughly 200 km deep. If you are fond of trekking, the Sandhan Valley trek will be an exciting alternative for you. The trekking path is surrounded by steep cliffs, offering great views. Starting from Samrad village, the five hour trek is for suggested for experienced trekkers.
