A special Yule ritual is being organised by the city’s Wiccan community in Mahim. Dare to go join?
Festivals around the world are celebrated in different ways, and Christmas is no less. The Wiccans, an ancient religious group, celebrate Christmas in the form of Yule, observing the Winter Solstice or the longest night of winter occurring between December 20 and 23 every year with a healing ritual. The Sabbat (festival) is a time to celebrate the passing of the longest night, and to look forward to the brighter days of the future with family and friends.

Keeping with the tradition, the year-old Wiccan Shop in Mahim will be curating a special Yule ritual on the December 22 this year. The routine will be held at the Three Moon Goddess temple, the only Wiccan temple in India. "The ritual is all about healing mother earth and ourselves", says Reverend Angel Serroa, owner, the Wiccan Shop.
The ritual consists of cleansing and is done by families using white sage and elder berries to protect and heal. "A healing session for mother earth will be conducted at the temple wherein we ask her to provide love, healing and a fruitful year along with the strength for our family members to deal with every day situations. We ask her to heal us and protect us from problems or issues at work or at home," he adds.
Serroa excitedly states that it is one of the most important festivals for the Wiccans as through observing this ritual they welcome the next year with lots of love, and hope that there would be happiness and healing for all the inhabitants on earth.
