A PG-13 newscast

For most youngsters, tuning in to the daily news can be overwhelming and distressing. And so the question arises, how do we apprise children with the relevant current affairs, minus the violence and shock? The podcast KidNuz might be the answer. The idea comes from Emmy Award-winning journalists Tori Campbell, Kimberly Hunter, Stephanie Kelmar and Ro Thomas Schwarz, with the aim to pique tweens and young adults’ interest in news by keeping it short, unbiased and non-partisan, in less than six minutes of audio.  Here’s what Wadala resident, 15-year-old Anirudh Sreejith, said about the podcast:

What I liked: The explanation and narration were clear and concise, and the podcast went over various different topics in an interesting way. The quizzes at the end stood out, along with the host’s energetic voice. The way it was narrated, made me want to hear more. It was really engaging and informative, and I would share this with friends.

What I did not like: The only problem I had was that I thought the episodes were short; I felt that they could have been a little longer.
