If a picture can say a thousand words, imagine what 50 pictures can say? The Nehru Planetarium, Nehru Centre in Worli is saying: you can be on earth and still be amidst the stars. The planetarium will be holding an exhibition of astronomical photographs, beginning today.
Planetarium director Arvind Paranjpye said, “We have approximately 50 photographs. The exhibition will feature photographs of astronomical objects such as the Milky Way galaxy, planets, and star fields taken by astrophotography experts and amateur astronomers.” The organisers added, “Astrophotography is a unique art. It involves keeping the camera shutter open for an extended period, needing the photographer to track the celestial object continuously. This distinctive technique is what makes astronomical photography so fascinating.” In a world where instant gratification is everything, it also needs oodles of patience, and like they say, the rewards of patience are sweet, as these pictures will show.
