Catalysts for Social Action (CSA), an NGO working towards holistic child care in India, has created a podcast titled Care of the State that explores and discusses state-run child care systems, and the plight of vulnerable children in the country. The podcast  has been conceptualised and hosted by Satyajeet Mazumdar; the episodes feature lawyers, NGOs, researchers and others in the field.

The podcast draws listeners into a deep-dive on topics such as institutional care, foster care, aftercare and adoption. The topics discussed in these episodes focus on the ground realities of underprivileged children in India, and the laws that work towards their protection, as well as their constant struggles in society. The plight of vulnerable children in the country, especially in these post-pandemic times, has been deeply aggravated and the conversation on this podcast sheds light on these aspects. The topics covered in these episodes focus on the laws protecting children in the country, the condition of institutional care in India, as well as the need for strengthening family and community-based care. The podcast releases an episode every Monday, and airs an insightful episode of consumable material for 45 minutes to an hour.

The episode on adoption was particularly poignant as it showcased the sheer number of children that are currently in the system. The state of affairs in the country is found to be burdening the system in more ways than one, but the conversations that take place are engaging and enlightening.

These are topics that are usually brushed under the carpet and go unnoticed. In light of the current predicament faced across the world, this podcast does the noble act of educating and making listeners aware about these forgotten children.
