What is one quality that sets some friends apart from the others? For this writer, it is the ability to turn illogical ramblings into serious conversations that continue for hours. In the Gen-Z world, it is also called the ability to be ‘delulu’ (delusional, for the uninitiated). So, when we came across a podcast titled Distractible, where three friends keep building up on each other’s random thoughts till they turn them into solid conspiracy theories, we are immediately hooked.

Our pick for this week features three famous individual YouTubers who come together because of their shared interests in gaming and popular culture, and most importantly, friendship. Hosted by Bob Muyskens, these one-hour episodes that release twice or thrice a week invite Mark Fischbach, AKA Markiplier, and Wade Barnes for ‘regular’ conversations. In some episodes, they rate Pokémon as a game, make a reference to Harry Potter, joke about how they got cancelled within two minutes into the episode, and quickly go back to Pokémon, only to get distracted again. In other episodes, which this writer enjoys the most, they conspire.

Our favourite episode from the video podcast is one of the more recent ones, Curious Conspiracy Theory. And the best part is when Muyskens roasts Barnes and expresses his astonishment on how little he has managed to learn over so many years. To this, Barnes confidently replies, “You can learn to rock climb, or you can just drive to Everest and start walking.” Speak about weekend motivation — or delusion.  The episode goes on to become a challenge, where the host challenges the two to cook up a conspiracy never heard before. Here again, Barnes wins us over. His conspiracy is that American actor and comedian Danny DeVito is tall — at least 6’8 ft, and that he’s faking his height with the assistance of what seems like a supernatural team, which could also consist of a few minions. And as silly as this conspiracy sounds, leave it to the friends to actually pull out some clues that support the theory. No, you will not buy it; but towards the end, you might not completely rule it out either.

If you’re someone who prefers no-brainer conversations with friends, which in this writer’s opinion are sometimes overusing the brain, this podcast is a dose of laughter that is sure to give you a good night’s sleep.
