Starting a business during a pandemic might be a difficult decision, but it’s not impossible - even if you don’t have the money. The history of fundraising dates back to the 1900s, but the technicalities and platforms to ask for and invest money in have evolved. But before you reach this stage, there are crucial criteria that your company needs to meet to prove investor-worthy. That’s what a masterclass with Vaibhav Manek, a business advisor and co-founder of the accounting firm KNAV, will teach you the ropes of.

The session is titled Seed to Series - Readiness for a Fund Raise, and is being organised by Mumbai Angels Network, a platform for new venture investing. As part of MA Academy, they organise such masterclasses on a variety of topics pertaining to business. “The academy was started as an offering for our members and a larger interested audience, where founders and investors could learn, adapt and grow, and navigate smoothly into the new normal at the onset of the pandemic. This is now focussed on both investors (to help gain a deeper understanding of venture investing as an asset class), and founders (to assist them in creating and executing actionable solutions to the plethora of challenges they face),” Nandini Mansinghka, co-promoter and CEO, Mumbai Angels Network, shares.

Although the masterclass is open to existing, seasoned and new investors, it is best suited for start-ups and individuals beginning their entrepreneurial journey. Participants will learn how to build a sustainable business, understand product-market fit, and assemble the right founding team, among other things.
