Enrol your kids for these virtual workshops that teach the basics of theatre
A pre-pandemic edition of Summer Express
Before our lives became restricted to the indoors, Bengaluru-based theatre space Ranga Shankara would host Summer Express, a hands-on, fun drama programme every year. Programme associate Samyuktha Manogaran shares, “Even earlier, there was this tendency among children to be more screen-obsessed. So, the idea was to encourage them to go out and engage with theatre through hands-on experiences.”

While they were unable to roll out the programme last year, this time, they have transitioned online, with sessions starting from May 10. Manogaran informs us that there’ll be three sets of workshops led by theatre artistes Shaili Sathyu, Sujay Saple and Anuja Ghosalkar.
Sujay Saple
“Saple’s session will be a basic introduction to theatre with a focus on storytelling. Sathyu will guide participants on the art of creating mystery stories and translating that to the stage. Ghosalkar’s session is based on photos and building stories from them,” she says about the workshops aimed at kids aged between eight and 12.
