Mario’s Mumbai
Artists have a knack for capturing people and places in a way words and images can’t. If you find this statement hard to believe, one glance at artwork by Mario de Miranda should be enough to convince you. The legendary cartoonist never had a formal art education, and yet, between strokes, he brought the essence of a burgeoning city like Mumbai alive.

His legacy today is carried forward through the Mario Gallery that offers a range of his work on objects ranging from collectibles like figurines and coasters, to crockery. And if you live and breathe the city, you can get your hands on a stunning lampshade with an illustrated map of the city on it. The sketch is printed on high-impact polystyrene and the lampshade is available as both, a hanging and standing variant. There’s also a fun cube where you can manipulate sections to form scenes like that of a packed local train.
