Fashion your hair into an up-do and add your choice of seasonal blooms if gardenias aren’t available, Turner says. Alternately, wear a larger-than-life fascinator to replicate Holiday’s unapologetic glamour.

The film features nine costumes designed by Prada, and the looks scream vintage Hollywood glamour. One piece stands out in particular — a bejewelled yellow satin gown with large, dramatic sleeves that was worn by actor Andra Day to mark Holiday’s return to the stage. Exaggerated sleeves are in keeping with 2020’s trend of maximalist fashion, says Turner.
