Although the term ‘clean’ beauty continues to elicit mixed responses from skincare enthusiasts, the allure of all-natural, preservative-free products is still holding strong. Enter Skin Pantry, a Mumbai-based brand, that claims to whip up beauty products in a kitchen-style studio, in small batches and with ingredients that don’t require a chemist to decode. It’s an organic, plant-based brand that eschews artificial preservatives and fragrances.

We tested out their Citrus Crush body milk that contains aloe vera, and apricot, jojoba, and sweet almond oil, and is suitable for all skin types. Although the formula is much thicker than most conventional moisturisers, we found that the product melted quickly into the skin, leaving no oily residue. We wore this before stepping out into the hot noon sun (under sunscreen) and found that our skin stayed supple. A little goes a long way and while the price is on the higher side (Rs 2,250 for 200 ml), it will last you a while. The essential oils (lemon, lime, and orange) leave behind a light, fresh scent that brings welcome respite from the ongoing heat wave.
