Some of you would have read Sylvia Plath’s poetry, but did you know that she was a fantastic cook? From fish chowder and Toll House cookies, to cherry and cottage cheese cobbler and mayonnaise, a set of typed recipe cards by Plath recently went under the hammer as part of international arthouse Sotheby’s auction, Your Own Sylvia. I was delighted to discover this lesser-known side of the poet; the collection includes trinkets such as her lacquer chopsticks and cutlery too.
